As head of security for one of the largest Anime Conventions in the Midwest, let me assure you that we have an absolute ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regards to situations like this and I will (and have) personally escorted people from our convention and gotten policed involved where needed.  HOWEVER, let me also assure you that there are conventions everywhere where the exact opposite is true.  I ended up presenting my board of directors with a proposal to ban someone pre-con due to incident reports that all turned out to be one guy at 2 other local cons,  And of the 3 cons they contact I was the only person to get back to them ever, and when the person I banned found out he was banned he said Security never said anything to him.

It is wrong you should have to deal with shit like this, and I always urge that you do go to security.  If they don’t do anything, track down security for the convention center/hotel/etc you are in and file a complaint.  While they may not “be able to do anything” for you, it will get back to con security and they may take it more seriously since you escalated it beyond them.  Outside of that, if you are being harassed, do not take it lightly.  If someone is touching you or wont leave you alone, be firm and tell them to stop.  If they don’t, YELL IT.  Stay in groups, and if you can’t be assertive, make friends with someone who is.  Be safe.
